Canine Re-activity Specialist
About Me
My name is Mairead and have a passion for helping both ends of the leash overcome training and behaviour struggles together through an exceptional level of support, high welfare standards, kind and force free science based training methods, relationship building, animal education and ensuring your dog has safe and appropriate outlets for their natural and breed specific behaviours.
I have always loved animals, grew up with spaniels and was previously a horse riding instructor. Through helping my own three dogs Luna, Archie and Buddy overcome their struggles I developed an all consuming passion for training and behaviour. I have done fostering for rescue, home boarding for guide/assistance dogs and had a successful dog walking and home boarding business. As well as years of practical experience I am dedicated to continuing my education, studies and CPD so I can bring only the best to dogs and their guardians. I’m a QQI level 6 accredited dog trainer, Absolute dogs pro dog trainer, completed a number of excellent courses by School of Canine Science, i’m a qualified canine first aider and currently working towards becoming an accredited dog re-activity specialist. I happily work with all pet dogs both in classes and one to one with a range of behaviours, breeds and life stages but my areas of specialisation are puppies and re-active dogs.
Here at Pawsative Steps I don’t believe one size fits all. I always treat both the dog and their guardians as individuals that I will hold space for and pull from the many tools that i’ve learned through developing my craft to create a unique, achievable and enjoyable training experience
