Family Dog Specialist

About Me

Welcome to Pawsative Steps. I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Mairead, I’m an accredited, ethical family dog trainer based in North Cork. My journey into dog training didn’t begin with textbooks or qualifications — it began at home with three incredible rescue dogs who changed everything. First Luna the Lab X, then Archie the Border Collie, and finally little Buddy the Spaniel mix. Each of them arrived with their own struggles, fears and histories, and helping them feel safe, understood and supported opened my eyes to what compassionate, force-free training can truly achieve.

What started as a personal mission to help my dogs thrive quickly grew into a deep passion for helping all dogs and their families build a happier and calmer relationship.

In 2020 I proudly achieved my professional dog training accreditation and continued to expand my knowledge in modern, science-based training and canine behaviour ever since. Ongoing education is a core part of my work — because families deserve support that is ethical, effective and rooted in the most up-to-date understanding of how dogs learn.

Today, through Pawsative Steps Dog Training, I specialise in:
🐾 1:1 support for reactive dogs
🐾 Guidance for multi-dog households
🐾 Puppy and adolescent dog training that sets dogs up for life
🐾 Fun dog sports such as agility and scent work
